Hilton Electrician FAQs
How do I know if my Hilton home needs rewiring?
Age is the first clue — original 1940s–50s wiring is past its design life. Warning signs: crumbling insulation on visible cables, frequent blown fuses, warm switches or power points, and circuits without safety switches. We inspect and give you an honest, fixed-price answer — see our rewiring service.
Can you upgrade the switchboard in a heritage-area home?
Yes. Switchboard upgrades are internal work and don’t change the streetscape. We replace old ceramic fuse boards with modern boards, circuit breakers and RCD protection, working neatly in older homes.
I’m renting out my Hilton place — what’s legally required?
At minimum two RCDs and compliant mains-powered smoke alarms less than 10 years old before a new tenancy. Interconnected alarms are only mandatory for buildings permitted from 1 May 2015 — most Hilton homes aren’t caught by that, and we’ll tell you exactly what yours needs.
Can I get solar with my old switchboard?
Usually not until it’s upgraded — 1950s fuse boards can’t accept an inverter connection safely. We upgrade the board first so solar, batteries or an EV charger can follow — see switchboard upgrades.
Do you charge a call-out fee in Hilton?
No — $0 call-out, free quotes, and a fixed price agreed before we start. We’re in the Fremantle area constantly, so same-day service is usually available.
We also service the neighbouring suburbs: Beaconsfield · Hamilton Hill · Coolbellup · Samson · White Gum Valley · Fremantle. Popular services in Hilton: electrical rewiring, switchboard upgrades, RCD safety switches.
