How Much Does Oven Installation Cost in Perth? (2026 Prices)
Quick answer: in Perth in 2026, connecting a replacement electric oven to an existing adequate circuit costs $220 to $320. A new oven that needs its own circuit — a bigger 90 cm, pyrolytic or double oven, or a kitchen where the oven shared the cooktop's circuit — is $550 to $750. Add $150 to $250 for an isolating switch where one is missing. The oven itself and any cabinet work are extra.

An oven install is quick when the circuit is right and a small project when it isn't. Most 600 mm electric ovens draw 2.5–3.6 kW and sit happily on the existing 20 A oven circuit; 90 cm ovens and double ovens draw 5–7 kW and usually need a 32 A circuit, and a lot of Perth kitchens from the 1990s and 2000s ran the oven and the cooktop off one circuit, which often can't carry a new oven and an induction cooktop together. This guide has the 2026 prices for each situation, what's done, and where gas fits.

Oven installation costs in Perth in 2026
| Job | Typical Perth price (2026) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Connect a replacement electric oven (existing circuit adequate) | $220 – $320 | Hard-wired 600 mm oven; connect, test, certify |
| New oven on a new dedicated circuit | $550 – $750 | 4 or 6 mm² cable from the switchboard, 20 or 32 A RCBO, isolator, connection |
| Wall oven into a tower cabinet | $260 – $380 | As above plus the lift; the cabinet maker cuts the opening |
| Oven and cooktop together (new kitchen) | $450 – $800 | Separate circuits where the load requires — see our cooktop cost guide |
| Gas oven — electrical side only | $160 – $220 | 10 A point for the ignition and light; gas fitter connects the gas |
| Oven isolating switch added or moved | $150 – $250 | Within reach of the oven, not behind it |
| Add: RCBO on a full board | +$150 – $350 | Small extension enclosure if there's no spare way |
| Plug-in ovens (some 600 mm models) | No electrician needed | A 10 A plug into a suitable power point — check the model's rating |
Does your new oven need a new circuit?
- Most 600 mm single electric ovens (2.5–3.6 kW) run on the existing 20 A oven circuit with 4 mm² cable. Some come with a 10 A plug and don't need hard-wiring at all — check the model.
- 90 cm ovens and double ovens (5–7 kW) generally need a 32 A circuit with 6 mm² cable, and some pyrolytic self-cleaning models need more than an old circuit gives — check the installation sheet; the maximum current is printed on it.
- Oven and cooktop on one circuit. Common in older Perth kitchens. The Wiring Rules allow a shared cooking circuit only where the combined load fits, and an induction cooktop plus a pyrolytic oven never does. That's when both get their own circuit.
- The isolating switch. Cooking appliances need a switch to isolate them, within reach and not behind the appliance. Ovens built into a tower often have theirs in the adjacent cupboard.

What's actually done on the day
- Check the circuit, the isolator and the board against the oven's installation sheet.
- Isolate and disconnect the old oven, lift it out; the opening is checked against the new oven's dimensions (the cabinet maker or you handle changes).
- Run a new circuit if needed — cable from the switchboard to the kitchen, an RCBO at the board, an isolator in reach.
- Connect the oven to the terminal block with the correct cable size, secure it in the cabinet, ventilation gaps as the manufacturer requires.
- Test and certify. Earth continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, RCD trip, then the oven run through its functions. Your Electrical Safety Certificate follows.
A like-for-like connection takes about an hour; a new circuit two to four hours depending on the run to the board.
Gas ovens and cooktops: who does what
Gas is a licensed gas fitter's work in WA, with its own compliance certificate. We do the electrical side: the 10 A point for the ignition, clock and light, and any circuit work if you're swapping from gas to electric. Book both trades for the same morning and the kitchen is back in service by lunch.
The WA rules that apply
- Licensed contractor only. A hard-wired oven must be connected by a licensed electrical contractor (our licence is EC15449). Retail delivery crews can't legally connect one unless they hold that licence.
- Circuit sized to the appliance under AS/NZS 3000:2018 and the manufacturer's sheet, with RCD protection on the circuit for new or altered work.
- Isolating switch for cooking appliances, in reach and accessible.
- Ventilation and clearances as the manufacturer specifies — pyrolytic ovens in particular.
- Electrical Safety Certificate for the work, within 28 days.
What pushes the price up (or down)
- The circuit. Reusing an adequate one is the cheap job; a new 32 A run is the main cost.
- Distance to the switchboard and the route — two-storey kitchens and slab floors are longer runs.
- The isolator. Missing or in the wrong place adds a switch.
- The board. Spare way, extension or upgrade.
- Wall ovens need two people and a cabinet that fits.
- Doing the cooktop at the same time shares the visit and the board work.
How Web X quotes an oven install
Send us the oven model, a photo of the existing oven connection or isolator, and one of the switchboard — that's usually enough for a fixed price the same day.
- Fixed price before we start, $0 call-out fee.
- Replacement connections often same or next day.
- Circuit, isolator, connection, testing and the Electrical Safety Certificate included.
- Licensed electrical contractor EC15449, 300+ five-star Google reviews. See our oven and hotplate installation page.
We connect ovens across the Perth metro — Joondalup, Morley, Victoria Park, Willetton, Rockingham, Ellenbrook and everywhere between.
Ways to keep the cost down
- Check the circuit before you buy. A 600 mm oven that fits the existing circuit is a $220 connection; a pyrolytic double is a new circuit.
- Buy a plug-in model if a suitable power point is in the cabinet and the oven is offered that way.
- Do the cooktop at the same time if it's due.
- Have the old oven out and the cabinet ready — or ask us to remove it; either way, no waiting on the day.
- Time it with the renovation so the new circuit goes in while the walls are open.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to install an oven in Perth?
About $220–$320 to connect a replacement electric oven on an existing adequate circuit, $550–$750 if a new dedicated circuit is needed, and $160–$220 for the electrical side of a gas oven.
Do I need an electrician to install an oven?
For a hard-wired oven, yes — it's licensed electrical work in WA and you receive an Electrical Safety Certificate. Some 600 mm ovens are supplied with a 10 A plug and can be plugged into a suitable point.
Can my new oven use the existing circuit?
If it's a standard 600 mm single oven and the existing circuit is a sound 20 A oven circuit, usually yes. 90 cm and double ovens usually need a 32 A circuit (some pyrolytic models too), and an oven that shared the cooktop's circuit usually needs its own. Send us the model and we'll confirm.
How long does oven installation take?
About an hour for a straight connection, two to four hours with a new circuit from the switchboard.
Do you install wall ovens?
Yes. The cabinet maker cuts the opening to the oven's dimensions; we lift it in, connect it and test it. Allow a little extra for the lift on 90 cm and double ovens.
Can you install a gas oven?
We do the electrical side — the ignition and light power point — and a licensed gas fitter connects the gas and issues the gas compliance certificate.
What is an oven isolating switch?
A switch that cuts power to the oven, required within reach and not behind the appliance. If your kitchen doesn't have one or it's behind the oven, we add or move it for $150–$250.
